That doesn't mean the cosy couch at home but rather the pausing, the hearing inside yourself to discover what's really affecting and really let grow. "Closer" is an invitation to come nearer and take time to enter a melancholic-mystic ambience in breakable, delicate moods and in moments, which are surprising with powerful Soul and outbreaks. Soaked by Jazz and noticeable enriched by Pop, Soul and Blues Marina Trost conscious leaves the tradition of a vocal Jazz-Standard-Album to create an authentic style which doesn't fit in any drawer. In many original compositions, but also in careful selected covers, the artist shows her complexity, which is courageously oriented to the own expression. With her prestigious band it's easy to place the folk-country song beside an African Rhythm. Free improvisation parts naturally harmonise with the dearly Jazz ballade. Coupling element is the voice, which is never proposed but always telling out of the moment: From the efforts and insights in search of the really important things and balancing inner and outer boundaries on the way. From the experience of an intensive love or the painful contention with the dead of the early deceased brother. That's how experience, wishes and dreams confound.
